Getting up very early for the hour ride from the camp site to the island was well worth being the early bird! To get to the island, there is a seven-mile causeway. At the early hour, it was eerie, but cool, too.
Thousands upon thousands of water birds greeted me as I made my way across to the island. I stepped out of the Jeep to snap a shot of the sunrise reward for me effort. (I ran back in...as the bugs were more populous than the birds!)
The first critter I spotted was a deer mule. And then the Bison awakened for their morning ritual of eating high on the hills and then migrating down the the lake.
